New Portrait Workshop in Costa Mesa Sunday, May 3, 2015

By Alice Leggett

A two-hour portrait demonstration at the Orange County Fair

Portraits are my favorite thing to paint, and I’ve been painting for decades. Now you can improve your oil portrait painting skills with my help. Even if you’ve always wanted to paint a portrait but were afraid to try, now is the time to take the plunge – no fear, it’s only paint!

With a live costumed model in front of you, I will demonstrate how to begin by showing you how to get a likeness right from the start (proportional relationships). Then you will follow along and get individual instruction to bring your skills to the next level. Learn to see shape, color, value and edges as they relate to the human face. And have fun!

Beginning to advanced students are welcome.

“Cat Eyes” Finds a Home

6 x 6 oil on board

Yay! This little kitty is traveling to its new home in central California today. The painting was part of a series of pet portraits I did awhile back as part of Leslie Saeta’s “30 Paintings in 30 Days” challenge. I liked this one so much I entered it in Orange County Fair’s juried show, and it won an honorable mention. So today, I was thrilled to see that it sold from my Etsy Shop!

Thanks for sharing in my happy dance 😉
